Some things you
might like to know about us....
- What are services like? Services at Troutville Baptist combine traditional worship
with elements of contemporary praise for a service that is
heartfelt and meaningful. Worship Services begin at 11:00
AM.
- Tell me about the congregation.
Troutville Baptist's congregation is a healthy mix of age
groups and talents. Some of our members are second and even
third generation members of the church, yet we have many
active members and leaders who have been with us for only a
short while. Our goal is to be a true church family, where
what is important to you is also important to us.
- What is there for my children at
Troutville Baptist? Troutville Baptist believes one of our greatest joys and duties is developing the spiritual life of our children. To this end, we have a part time youth and children's minister, an unusual step in a church our size.
There are classes for every age group, Girls in Action (GA's) and Royal Ambassadors (RA's) meet regularly to teach about missions. Wednesday nights brings "Kingdom Kids" programs as well as children's choirs. In addition, there are special fun fellowship activities throughout the year.
- What is there for my Youth at
Troutville Baptist? We understand that the years
in middle and high school are important in a youth's
spiritual growth, so we have a part time youth and
children's minister dedicated to this ministry. We have
Sunday classes, mid-week bible study, and special programs
and activities all year long. Youth are involved in real
ministry and missions and are an integral part of the total
ministry at Troutville Baptist.
- Tell me about your adult Sunday
School. There is no better way to get to meet people or get to know the personality of a church than to visit a Sunday School class. In Sunday school, we do more than just study the bible. Here you can get to know people, develop friendships, and have opportunities to serve.
There are Sunday School classes for all ages. Adults have their choice of several classes, each with it's own personality and focus.
We urge visitors to try several classes until they find the place where they feel most "at home".
Sunday School classes begin about 10:00.
- What other activities do you have
at Troutville Baptist? Whether you are six, sixteen, twenty six or sixty, there's a lot for you at Troutville
Baptist Church. Interested in more Bible Study beyond
Sunday School? Adults meet each Wednesday night at 6:30. Youth have Bible Study on
Wednesday nights as well.
What is there for kids? Beyond Sunday School we have Girls in Action and Royal Ambassadors focus on missions. There's a special Children's church for small children. Each Wednesday night (during adult bible study) there are children's programs as well.
Youth have an active program that includes study, fellowship, music, drama, retreats and more.
Like to Sing? We have an adult choir that sings a wide variety of music, a praise team focused on contemporary
Christian music, as well as choirs for children and youth. For everyone there there are dramas, special dinners, picnics, trips, special music, speakers and more.
Are you missions oriented? Check out our Women on Missions group or take part in a number of special mission projects throughout the year.
Our "Arm and Hammer" missions group does work on
homes and other practical outreach and help projects. Men
can take part in a monthly prayer breakfast and women have
special "lunch bunch" fellowship. Take
a look at our Activities page to get a full list of
what's going on!
- What Baptist Groups are you a
part of? Troutville Baptist is actively involve
with the local Roanoke Valley
Baptist Association, and the Statewide Virginia
Baptist Mission Board. In addition, we maintain ties
with both the Southern Baptist
Convention and the Co-operative
Baptist Fellowship.
- Tell me about your Pastor. Carol Johnston is senior pastor at Troutville Baptist Church. She was called here first as an interim pastor in September 1999, and then as senior pastor in February 2000. Before arriving at Troutville, Carol served at Grandin Court Baptist for 20 years. She has also served as a Chaplin Associate at Lewis Gale
Hospital for 13 years, and as Chaplin for the Good Samaritan Hospice for 2 years.
Carol brings a positive, personal style of ministry to Troutville, which has spawned real excitement and growth.
- How can I learn more?
We'd love to talk to you. You can get more information from
a number of sources. You can always call our pastor at
church (see the Contacts Page
for the number.). Or we have several deacons focused on
talking to visitors. Or you may
contact
Pat Rhodes, the webmaster of this site, who would glad to make sure you get to the right
person to learn what you need to know.
